On the final stretch

Good morning all!

Hope your week is going well. Mine has started a wrong, a little bit of stress yesterday which isn’t good for your body. In fact, I believe it’s one of the biggest contributors to weight gain and poor health in this country. We’ve almost evolved into a nation that loves to stress. This can cause us to eat poorly, to sleep less, increase our blood pressure and it affects our overall health and wellbeing. It’s really not good for our bodies and can make our spiral into negative patterns that are hard to kick.

That’s also something I’ve noticed. Negative patterns are so hard to kick. It’s all about subconscious habits. For instance, if you always have a desert after dinner then you’re brain is going to tell you you want desert after dinner. Even if you’re full. If you snack after dinner the same applies and so on. It’s a habit, and that’s hard to stop. Not impossible though, if you really want to change it. Also, I’m finding I’m doing well with my diet now but after my treats or cheat meal I find it hard to switch back to the healthy eating because my brain then tells me I want more. This subsides but it’s not nice!

The thing that keeps me going? Well, it’s hard not to when you’re publishing your results in an online blog for all to see. Maybe you could do the same using another form of social media and encourage your friends and family to support you. Also this week motivation has been easy because of the World Athletics Championships currently on TV. Those athletes have devoted their lives to their sport, diet and exercise and look at what they achieve. If that doesn’t inspire you then I’m not sure what else will.

It made me quite nostalgic, I remember the buzz of 2012 and how it really inspired people and got them motivated to get moving. It was a fantastic time for this country and I hope the next Olympics might inspire some of the same. I have included a short video of 2012 here in the hope that you might watch it and feel inspired in some way. At the very least I hope it brings back happy memories of a time we, as a nation, successfully celebrated sport and athleticism in all its glory! London 2012 Highlights
