El increíble diseño interno de las colonias de hormigas. Video

Hoy los dejo con un video de 3 minutos que en realidad es una breve parte de un documental más extenso, en donde unos científicos han "moldeado" el diseño estructural interno de una colonia de hormigas, y les aseguro que cuando vean lo que excavaron quedarán tan asombrados como yo...



Para lograr crear el molde de la colonia, lo que los investigadores hicieron fue llenar la colonia con cemento, el cual posteriormente se endurecería, y después los investigadores procederían a desenterrar toda la tierra alrededor de la colonia, dejando esencialmente una escultura sólida de todo el interior.



Para que tengan una idea de lo colosal que pueden ser estas colonias, la que verán en el video necesitó de 10 toneladas de cemento (durante 3 días de trabajo) para llenarla hasta el tope, y las cavernas internas bajaban hasta unos 8 metros de profundidad, cubriendo unos 50 metros cuadrados.



El resultado final como verán es algo extraordinario, pareciendo algo diseñado por un maestro constructor, pero en realidad siendo la evolución de esta especie a través de cientos de millones de años de adaptación a su medio ambiente...
